“I know they’ll take care of the assets they receive and make the impact on the local communities.”

“Everyone should be fed,” says Megan Silvey. “It is such a simple and straightforward need to meet.”

With that core belief in mind, Megan chose to make a planned gift to Harvesters — something she purposefully chose to do early in her life.

Megan is a data scientist consultant and founder of Silvey Solutions LLC. Already successful in her field, Megan says she was struck by a video she watched of a woman whose husband passed away while the woman was in her 20s.

The video propelled Megan to consider that anything can happen to any of us, at any time in life.

“What will I have done with my assets,” Megan considered if something should happen to her. “If you don’t tell anyone, they aren’t going to know what to do.”

That’s when Megan decided to leave half of her assets to organizations that are close to her heart, including Harvesters, where she has also served as a volunteer for many years.

“I really believe it is good to give back while you are alive, but also in your passing to create a legacy,” she says.

Megan says it was both a straightforward process to make a planned gift through her will and an easy decision to leave part of her assets with Harvesters.

“I’m glad that we have Harvesters here to really just help support such a big area with everything that they do,” she says. I know they’ll take care of the assets they receive and make the impact on the local communities.”

Thanks to Megan and generous partners like you, more of our neighbors will have nutritious food on the table today, tomorrow and long into the future. Thank you, Megan
