Danielle Riberio from Great.com interviewed Harvesters as part of their ‘Great.com Talks With…’ podcast. This series is an antidote to negative news stories that aims to shed light on organizations and experts whose work is making a positive impact on the world.
Hunger is a big issue in Kansas and Missouri, from rural areas to urban and suburban neighborhoods. As the COVID-19 pandemic began, food insecurities in the region were at an all-time high. Now, the issue is even more alarming and closely impacting every household.
Food Assistance for Everyone
Anyone can get food assistance through our organization. We work with pantries, drive-through food pick-ups, and community kitchens to deliver meals to hungry neighbors. The goal of these sites is to save lives and end hunger. Through joint cooperation, we make it possible to support local communities in desperate need of help.
Another way we help tackle food insecurities is through a wide range of community partnerships to address root causes of hunger. We provide assistance applying for SNAP benefits, nutrition education and meal programs targeted directly toward children and senior citizens.
