The holiday season is all about coming together, sharing joy, and spreading hope. This year, thanks to the incredible efforts of our network—donors, volunteers, partners, and staff—Harvesters was able to provide steady support that ensures families, seniors, and children in our communities had meals, hope, and brighter days.

Nothing says The Holidays like gathering around a table with loved ones and sharing a warm meal, while spreading holiday cheer by serving with joy and a little bit of fun! The Good Shepherd Catholic Church contributed with an impressive turkey drive, while the Royals, Know Joey Foundation and Urban Youth Academy came through to provide the holiday sides, showcasing their commitment to ensure everyone had everything needed so they didn’t have to choose between putting food on the able and celebrating the season.

Food drives played a huge role in keeping shelves stocked and tables full. So, what happens when a community unites around a common purpose? Hope and support for our neighbors! Together with these events we brought in much-needed donations to meet the growing demand. And bringing holiday cheer, The CPKC Holiday Train made its magical stop at Union Station. Not only did the train provide a generous donation to support the local hunger relief efforts but it created an atmosphere of togetherness and excitement. It truly was heartwarming to see many families and friends gathered to admire the beautifully decorated train.

Adding to the festive spirit, Chiefs fans stepped up and brought their A-game and came together to raise awareness to tackle hunger during the kickoff of the Chiefs Kingdom Food Drive, by donating food and showcasing the spirit of the community. Representatives from the Chiefs stepped off the field to make a difference and joined us in packing meal boxes. Both events showed a powerful reminder that teamwork makes the dreamwork— both on and off the field.

Volunteers once again showed how time and effort can create a lasting positive impact. Their support—picking up and sorting donations, packing boxes and distributing meals—was the driving force behind Harvesters’ holiday efforts. The dedication was clear in a room filled with holiday helpers of all ages and backgrounds, tirelessly preparing food boxes to the backdrop of classic Christmas movies and a cozy hot chocolate station with snacks to refuel. The room was vibing with energy, joy and pure love.

Of course, the holiday season isn’t just about giving back; it’s also a time for connection and fun. A tradition we hold dear, our Harvesters’ Holiday Meal, brought the team together to reflect on the year of successes and celebrate like one big family. Not to mention, our staff put their cooking skills to the test with a friendly Chili and Sweets Cookoff competition, raising funds for United Way. With sweet treats and delicious dishes for a good cause, it was a win-win all around!

As Harvesters looks back at this season, we are filled with thankfulness. The contribution of donors, the work of volunteers, and partnerships with other organizations made it possible to prepare hot meals for thousands of families.

The holiday season may be over, but the need remains. As we welcome 2025, we’re filled with gratitude for the kindness and generosity you shared in 2024. Let’s continue making a difference in 2025 by giving food, time, money and voice. Together, we can carry the holiday spirit into the New Year and beyond. Thank you for being part of the Harvesters family.
