There are many ways that families, organizations, faith-based groups and companies can make a difference by donating food to Harvesters.
Hold a food and fund drive
Sponsor a food and fund drive for Harvesters at your workplace, school, place of worship, neighborhood or civic organization. Collect our most needed items. Harvesters' Food Drive Kit will help you set it up and get started.
For more information or to schedule your food drive, please contact Harvesters' Food Drive Department or call toll-free 877.653.9517.
Hold a Virtual Food Drive
Expand your drive and make it mobile by hosting a fun, online Virtual Food Drive. Learn how you can add to the fun by making your Virtual Food Drive competitive.
Donate food today
Donate food at our Kansas City or Topeka facilities during normal business hours. Look for our blue donation barrels in area grocery stores, including Price Chopper stores. Check out the list of ongoing food drives in the community. Vist our event calendar for other food donation promotions.
Collect or purchase single-serving, shelf stable foods and then assemble sack lunches. This is a great activity for a corporate or community group. Lunches assembled from this food drive/volunteer activity will be used for youth feeding programs, including our homeless teen mobile food pantry. We will provide a list of specific food items and packing supplies. To learn more about Give Lunch, please contact Harvesters' Food Drive Department or call toll-free 877.653.9517.
Donate garden produce
Plant an extra row for the hungry or donate excess garden produce to Harvesters’ Plant A Row for the Hungry program. During the growing season, donate fresh garden produce at participating garden centers.
Make a food industry donation
Donate surplus product inventory to Harvesters. The process is safe, efficient and cost-effective. We accept donations of dry, refrigerated and frozen foods, and household goods and personal hygiene items. We adhere to strict food safety guidelines and provide complete product tracking, including recall capabilities. For more information, please email email@example.com or call 816.929.3210.
Learn about the Bill Emerson Good Samaritan Food Donation Act, which protects donors from civil and criminal liabiltiy when the donations are made in food faith.
Donate prepared foods
Restaurants, cafeterias and hospitals can donate prepared, but unserved, foods to Harvesters’ Food Rescue program. We will work with you to distribute this valuable food to area agencies with on-site feeding programs, including community kitchens and shelters. For more information, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
