Each year a select group of students are selected to participate in Harvesters’ Youth Leadership Council on Hunger. Our youth leaders play a key role in educating their peers about hunger issues and inspiring them to take action. The council is a great way to develop skills such as team leadership, planning and organization, and public speaking.
All applicants must:
Submit a completed application and required reference to Harvesters via the online form below.
Be in good academic standing.
Have parent/guardian permission to participate.
Have attended a Hunger Summit or plan to attend the 2018 Hunger Summit.
Each application will be judged on its own merits. Students will be selected based on their written application, recommendation from an adult reference, and participation in the Hunger Summit.
If selected, Council members must agree to:
Be a positive representative of Harvesters to their peers, school and community.
Complete an orientation.
Commitment to participate in council activities, such as planning days of service.
Plan a hunger-related service event.
Collaborate on activities for Hunger Action Month (September) and at least two additional service days.
Communicate with Harvesters staff if they have questions or concerns.
Sustainability/legacy for their school, team, faith-based organization, etc. or the YLC for Members serving more than one term.
Please complete all sections of the application form. The reference form should be completed by a teacher, counselor, principal, community figure or any adult who has worked closely with the applicant. Parent/guardian permission and contact information will be verified as part of the selection process.
