The Youth Leadership Council is a program to educate, engage and empower middle- and high-school students in the fight against hunger. Council members will create, lead, and participate in opportunities focused on the issue of hunger, such as food and fund drives, service learning activities, poster displays, advocacy campaigns, and social media.
Harvesters’ Youth Leadership Council includes:
An application process.
A one-year commitment to participate (attend 9 of 11 monthly meetings).
Be a positive representative of Harvesters to your peers, school and community.
Plan a hunger-related service event.
Collaborate on activities for Hunger Action Month (September) and at least two national service days.
Identification and celebration of Council members as an official program of Harvesters through:
Shirt and nametag
Recognition of achievement
Through participation in the Youth Leadership Council -
Members will receive from Harvesters:
Opportunities to lead and develop skills, including: collaboration, project management, goal setting, time management, and public speaking.
Tracking and recording of activities for school service requirements and college applications.
Members will contribute:
Active participation in addressing the issue of hunger.
Creation and implementation of their individual and group action plans.

Students interested in being a part of Harvesters’ Youth Leadership Council should:
Submit a completed application and one reference to Harvesters via the online form below.
Be in good academic standing.
Have parent/guardian permission to participate.
Have attended a Hunger Summit or plan to attend the 2018 Hunger Summit.
Each application will be judged on its own merits. Students will be selected based on their written application, recommendation from an adult reference, and participation in the Hunger Summit.
