Tonshita does her very best to provide for her children. She’s raising them on her own and speaks glowingly about each one. The day we met, she proudly talked about cheering loudly at her 10-year-old’s debate meets.

Because she’s such a caring mother, Tonshita worries often about her kids’ nutrition. She wants to fill their family table with quality meals that will support their healthy development. But affording all her family’s basic expenses has been a struggle lately.

The home healthcare company Tonshita worked for closed down, and she’s having a hard time without that income. She’s back in school so she can better provide for her family. But Tonshita must balance her course load with taking care of her two younger children who aren’t old enough for school yet, so it will take time for her to earn her degree.

Fortunately, she learned about Guardian Angels Church, her local Harvesters partner agency. It’s a relief for her to know she can get a variety of healthy foods at the church’s pantry.

Tonshita also appreciates the pantry’s supply of toiletries and hygiene products. Her 1-year-old is allergic to disposable diapers, and it’s a huge help for her to have access to laundry detergent to wash her cloth diapers.

Despite the hard times she’s facing, Tonshita has a great attitude. She’s incredibly grateful for Guardian Angels, for her brother — who serves as a male role model for her kids — and for you, who are helping her family get back on solid footing.
