Tiana’s a busy young woman. A junior at the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg, she’s taking a full load of courses and working two jobs — one at the campus rec center and a weekend job near her hometown.
It’s a hectic lifestyle, but Tiana knows it will be worth the effort. She’s studying exercise science and hopes to eventually open a dance studio.
But for now, Tiana’s living with three roommates in an apartment on campus. And sometimes, even with her income, she has a hard time covering her portion of the rent and bills — as well as groceries. Fortunately, she has somewhere to turn for help.
We met Tiana at the University of Central Missouri Student Pantry, which partners with Harvesters to connect hungry students with healthy food. She says it’s a big help to get groceries from the pantry when she can’t make her budget stretch. She recently picked up a rotisserie chicken and was able to make it last a few days.
“To know you have somewhere you can get food is a relief,” Tiana says. “Things like this can go a long way for students just doing their best.”
