During his 23 years in the Navy, Rich traveled all over the world. He and his wife, Elaine, decided to settle down in the Kansas City area to be closer to family, specifically their 10 grandkids and two great-grandchildren.
Rich continues his service as a dedicated volunteer, alongside Elaine, with Togetherhood, a local YMCA program. Elaine proudly reports she’s given time at Harvesters through the Y.
The couple enjoys staying active by giving their time. Elaine’s been in remission from ovarian cancer for two years, and she and Rich do their best to keep healthy. In fact, it was during a medical visit at his local VA when Rich found out about the Harvesters Mobile Food Pantry that shares fresh produce and other nutritious items at the complex.
“I think it’s wonderful!” Elaine says of the pantry. “It’s been helpful because there’s times we run out. Things in the store are expensive.”
Your support connects deserving neighbors like Elaine and Rich with consistent nutrition to fuel their active lifestyle and protect them from diet-related diseases like diabetes and hypertension. Thank you for helping build a healthier community with Harvesters!
