At this time of year, many of us have enjoyed time at home, cozy and out of the harsh winter weather. But this simple joy can come at a high cost.
Local seniors are especially vulnerable to hunger when the temperature drops. Older adults across our community depend on limited fixed incomes — when they have to pay more for utilities like heat, they have less in the budget for food.
I’m sure you agree that this is unacceptable. Our senior neighbors built our community. When I think about my grandma, grandfriends and the tremendous effect they had on my life, it pains me to imagine older folks sacrificing meals for bills.
Caring people like you help so much. Thanks to your support last year, Harvesters was able to add five new senior food distributions to our Mobile Pantry Program, which provides healthy groceries directly to older adults in need.
With a new year well underway, I’m so glad to know Harvesters has generous friends like you in our corner. I look forward to our continued partnership in the year ahead!
All my best,
President & CEO
