This year marks an important milestone for Harvesters and its network of partner agencies. Forty years ago, a group of passionate faith and food industry leaders came together to fight hunger in a new way. The idea of food banks, one large, efficient facility dedicated to acquiring and distributing food to a network of food pantries and kitchens, was just catching on and these visionary leaders had the courage and foresight to give this concept a try. For this, I am forever grateful. What an impact we’ve made!
During these four decades, our network has provided hundreds of millions of meals. Of course, none of these meals could have happened without the support of you and the rest of our community of food donors, volunteers and financial donors.
Our work is not done. There are still families and seniors who need our help. Seniors, like John, have worked hard all their lives and now try to get by on limited incomes and often must make tough decisions between paying the heating bill and buying food or buying medicine or buying groceries.
On behalf of myself and our founders, thank you for all you do to help others in need. You are providing hope and a brighter future to so many.
