Eddie and Sandra’s relationship has been filled with jokes and laughter. Now 70 and 67, the couple raised two boys and are proud grandparents to seven grandkids and six great grandsons!
Even with all their smiles and good cheer, Sandra and Eddie are no strangers to struggle. Eddie’s now retired from doing maintenance work and Sandra receives limited disability assistance. They do their best to make their budget stretch, but recently, they haven’t been able to afford all their monthly expenses.
Faced with the high cost to heat their home during the winter, they’ve found they can’t pay for all the groceries they need.
The couple recently visited the Harvesters mobile pantry at Christ United Methodist Church in Independence, Mo. They were thrilled to find a variety of fruits and vegetables to support their health.
As we talked with Sandra about the food she receives, she shared her gratitude on behalf of her family and neighbors in similar situations.
“It’s a blessing,” Sandra says of the monthly mobile pantry. “What a big blessing this is — that people can come here and get help.”
