When families struggle to afford groceries on tight budgets, your support offers real hope.
Mikala’s son, Jameson, was born just about a month ago. She was working in retail, and now that she’s on maternity leave, she’s having a hard time providing for Jameson and his big sister, Elaina, 6. August is particularly tough with the expenses of getting her daughter ready for school.
Fortunately, Mikala doesn’t have to sacrifice nutritious food to keep her bills paid. Her grandmother, Evelyn, told her about the Harvesters mobile pantry truck that visits Drexel United Methodist Church.
After years working in a busy kitchen, Evelyn had a hard time adjusting to life on a fixed Social Security income. She first visited the mobile pantry when it started delivering food four years ago and appreciates the fresh, healthy items the pantry truck provides.
“This helps with the grocery bill,” Evelyn says. “You can’t always afford to buy all your fruits and vegetables.”
Evelyn is a cornerstone of her Drexel community. She raised four children and now has 13 grandkids and 10 great grandchildren! A nurturing matriarch, she’s continuing her legacy of care by ensuring Mikala and her little ones’ needs are met.
Thanks to you, Harvesters clients like Evelyn and Mikala can access the nutrition they need. Please consider giving here.
