Cristine is hands-on in everything in her life. Because of the high cost of childcare, she’s been staying home and taking care of her kids. Now that her daughter, Genesis, 5, is about to start school, she can’t wait to get back to work. But in the meantime, she’s found a way to both give and receive help.
Cristine’s husband works in construction, and when the weather’s bad, his income can be really inconsistent. During those times, Cristine says it’s been a real relief to have help from you and Harvesters. She saw our mobile pantry truck setting up near her home at Franklin Center and has been visiting the monthly distributions ever since.
Cristine doesn’t just receive food for her family though; she also helps coordinate the large majority of clients who come to volunteer. Pantry visitors arrive early to help sort, package and organize the fresh groceries from the truck.
Cristine loves the friendly neighborhood feeling of the mobile pantry events and the quality of the food. It means a lot to her to be able to fill her family’s table with healthy fruits and vegetables.
“Thank you,” Cristine says to friends like you. “It’s awesome how people help — it makes you believe again in good people.”
Your generosity restores hope for your less fortunate neighbors. Because you choose to give, countless families like Cristine’s don’t have to worry about how they’ll fill their tables. Thank you for making our community an even better place to call home!
