Join us for Harvesters' SNAP Challenge 2015
During National Nutrition Month this March, Harvesters is asking hunger advocates to join the food bank in taking the SNAP Challenge to better understand what it's like to eat healthy on a limited budget.
More than a million men, women and children in Kansas and Missouri receive SNAP (Food Stamps) assistance and each month they struggle to avoid hunger, afford nutritious foods, and stay healthy with very limited resources.
The SNAP Challenge helps others understand these challenges and raise awareness about the issue of hunger.
How does the SNAP Challenge work?
From March 2-6, SNAP Challenge participants will be asked to limit their food expenditures to $4.50 per person a day, the average daily SNAP benefit for an individual in our area.
Participants will be encouraged to share their thoughts on the experience with friends and family by writing a blog or posting to social media using #HarvestersSNAPChallenge. Share comments on your social channels and/or on Harvesters' Facebook wall. You may also make comments on our blog posts here or submit a blog post for us to use on our website or social channels.
Please complete and submit this form to sign up to join the Challenge!
